Philips 634A

Radiotechniek album
The Philips 634A also called spring messenger. This radio was sold in large numbers in 1933. Beautiful presentation and a very well playing device.
The small 634A was an anniversary edition from Philips.
A beautiful radio with a bare cabinet.
The front of the device.
The back bulkhead with the Dutch patent numbers.
The inside clearly shows the 4 copper coil buses.
The cabinet was demolished for restoration.
The chassis is completely original.
Just under a different angle.
The beautiful speaker is completely intact.
Here's a clear look at the micrometer scale.
A look at the chassis of this beautiful radio.
The underside of the chassis. The tuning capacitors are the weak point of this device.
The rear of the chassis with the connections for antenna pick-up and extra loudspeaker.
The cabinet for restoration.
The bands on the case are still clearly visible.
Cabinet with stripper.
The stripper does its job.
Paint scraper to make the cabinet bare.
Sponges to get the last bits off the cabinet.
Removing the last paint residue here.
Cabinet is clean.
And this is what a clean closet looks like. Understand very well that also the layers of color are of the cabinet.
Determine the color of the veneer. You do this with water.
Mixing color for the Philips 634A.
Coloring the cabinet.
The front of the cabinet colored.
The base of the cabinet is black.
Measuring the bars.
Ready for coloring the bars.
The first bar is on.
The cabinet is colored and can be lacquered.
Two thin coats of lacquer to fill the veneer.
The cabinet lacquered. And finished.
Put the speaker cloth back in.
And this gives an image of the radio.
The chassis mounted back in the cabinet.
Klaar prachtige originele radio geworden.
